DESCRIPTION:5 – 7 June 2024 | Marseille\, France \nThe escalated and persistent resistance to antibiotics poses significant threat to the global public health\, increasing the urgency to identify new potential antimicrobials\, to dissect their molecular mechanism(s) of action\, and to characterize their function in the context of complex immune responses. Antimicrobial peptides represent a class of antibiotic molecules that display targeted activity against microorganisms\, which are produced by living organisms as diverse as bacteria\, fungi\, plants\, insects and vertebrates\, and which can be as well artificially designed and synthesized. \nThe 2024 International Symposium on Antimicrobial Peptides will reunite experts to engage in discussions regarding: \na) the discovery\, biosynthesis pathways and bioengineering of novel antimicrobial peptides\, \nb) the mechanisms of antimicrobial activities and bacterial resistance\,  \nc) immune modulation by antimicrobial peptides\, \nd) the interplay between antimicrobial peptides & microbiota\, and \ne) antimicrobial peptides as an ecological and evolutionary point of view. \n  \nDeadline for abstract submission is April 15\, 2024. \nAbstracts selected for poster presentation will be displayed during the poster sessions. \n  \nFind the program of the event here.

The program of the event features a diverse array of speakers and discussion leaders from institutions and organizations worldwide\, focusing on the latest advancements in the field. \nSpanning five days\, the conference takes place in a remote location to foster the sense of collaboration and create scientific communities\, with the aim of building lasting camaraderie. The conference has designated time for talks\, poster sessions from individuals of all career stages\, and afternoon free time and communal meals allow for informal networking with leaders in the field. \nThe focal points of the 2024 meeting are aspects of bio-inspired research ranging from fundamental to application\, such as range of building blocks of bioinspired materials\, the syn­the­sis of bioinspired materials made from or inspired by these building blocks\, their self-assembly\, their system-level integration to create functional devices\, and the application of bio-inspired materials in different domains. DESCRIPTION:STRATEGIC R&I FOR THE VALUE CHAINS OF THE FUTURE\n17 – 21 June 2024 | Limassol\, Cyprus \nOrganized for the first time\, Materials Week 2024 aims to bring together numerous small and large Research and Innovation (R&I) communities that are driving advances in materials innovation manifested across diverse value chains and industrial markets. \nBy addressing all materials’ application sectors and R&I communities concerned with the (re-)discovery\, identification\, improvement\, handling\, processing\, manufacturing\, (re-)use and recycling of materials\, Materials Week 2024 provides a cross-disciplinary meeting venue for communication and collaboration over and beyond traditional community boundaries. The meeting will emphasize the fluidity of disciplinary boundaries and encourage the free flow of ideas and methods between different fields. DESCRIPTION:30 June – 3 July 2024 | Rotterdam\, The Netherlands \nThe Dutch Biotechnology Association (NBV) is pleased to host the World’s two longest running biotechnology Congresses\, the 19th European Congress on Biotechnology (ECB2024) and 19th International Biotechnology Symposium (IBS2024) at their annual meeting\, NBC-24\, in Rotterdam\, Netherlands. \nThe over-arching theme for ECB2024 is “Grand Challenges for Biotechnology: Health; Food Security; and Global Warming”.  Meeting these challenges requires close cooperation among Industry\, Academia\, Research Institutes and national governments.  The scientific programme will therefore focus on how to translate front line research into commercially viable applications. \nIn addition to daily plenary lectures and five streams of morning and afternoon symposia\, the scientific programme will include a trade exhibition and presentations by our sponsors.  In line with the IBS and ECB tradition\, we will promote the participation of young scientists by encouraging them to submit their original work to be considered for presentation as short talks\, flash posters or posters. \nFind event’s Program here \nRegister here
